SSMS is a very heavy weight extension for ADS and it would be useful to be able to uninstall it and not have it running at the same time as - thanks for that info. I really want to get rid of SSMS altogether and use ADS full time, but it's still not possible. Features like notebooks are all very well and good but when ADS is still missing basic functionality such as the above it causes a hard eye roll. I know you don't like to hear this, you want separate tasks for every thing, but you need to look at SSMS and implement the many quality of life features that ADS is still missing, there are tasks for some of them - cause I wrote some as have others. I tried using extensions but they are poor and in my eyes this is MVP functionality that should already be there, I shouldn't need to use extensions for this. "New database." - When used, a dialog should be shown that prompts for name, size and growth configuration, see SSMS, except better UI layout."Restore database." - When used, a dialog similar to the one when you are restoring an existing DB should be shown, except it should in addition prompt you for a new name for the DB.When you bring up the context menu on the database node there should be a new options: The only way to restore a DB is to use the context menu on an existing database. Again, there is no option to do this in the UI. bak file and I want to restore that to a new database directly without first having to create a new blank database. Thus, I always end up switching back to using SSMS whenever I need to do this. I found an extension that gives you a "New Database" option in the context menu for the Databases node in the server pane, but it woefully in adequate as all it does is ask for a name, there are no options to control initial size, growth options like you get in SSMS. In my case this means a SQL Server database, on premise, installed on my machine. The Frustration of missing functionality is high!Ĭurrently in ADS there is no way to create a new database via the UI.
